Pattaya Mayor Plants Yellow Star Trees to Celebrate Thailand’s National Tree Day
Pattaya Mayor Mr. Poramase Ngampiches presided over a tree planting ceremony on May 30th to celebrate Thai National Tree Day on May 22nd. This event was part of the “Pattaya Moves Towards a Low Carbon City” project and saw participation from several Pattaya City Council members, citizens, and volunteers.
The National Municipal League of Thailand and the European Union have chosen Pattaya City as one of 15 learning centers for the “Thai Municipality Moves Towards Low Carbon City” project. This initiative aims to involve government agencies, educational institutions, businesses, communities, citizens, and tourists in rehabilitating Pattaya’s natural resources and environment and promoting sustainability.
During the event, 200 Yellow Star trees were planted in public areas around Pattaya. Ninety of these trees were planted at Pattaya Klang public park, with the remainder scheduled to be planted at Khao Phra Yai later.
In an interview with The Pattaya News, Mayor Poramase highlighted the importance of the public park at the Pattaya Klang Intersection as a crucial green space in the city. He emphasized its role as a relaxing area for families and urged the public to dispose of waste properly to maintain the park’s cleanliness and orderliness.
