Pattaya Floods Cause Partial Road Collapse on Third Road
Pattaya experienced heavy rainfall on May 21st, 2024, leading to flooding in various parts of the city. The downpour caused a section of Third Road near Hollywood Disco and New Season 88 in North Pattaya to collapse partially.
Witnesses captured footage of the collapse and flooding, available for viewing on our YouTube Channel. Throughout the day, intermittent showers caused water levels to rise between 10 and 70 centimeters in multiple locations.
Areas such as the railway road between Soi Wat Thammasammakhi and Soi Khao Talo, Sukhumvit Road in South Pattaya, Phaniat Chang Intersection, and Mum Aroi Intersection were among those affected. These areas are known to be susceptible to flooding.
The floodwaters rendered motorcycle and small car travel impossible temporarily. However, thanks to Pattaya’s improved drainage system, the water receded swiftly, returning to normal levels. Nevertheless, residents near Hollywood Disco and New Season 88 in North Pattaya observed damage to the surface of Third Road after the water subsided. It’s believed that water pressure and erosion caused a 10-centimeter depression over a 5-meter stretch of the road.
Fortunately, there were no injuries or vehicle damages, thanks to prompt responses from local residents and authorities.
Nearby residents promptly notified Pattaya City officials of the damage, prompting a swift repair response.
Pattaya City’s engineering team and relevant agencies inspected the road, subsequently closing it to traffic. They are currently engaged in repairing the damaged surface, utilizing backhoes to level the ground beneath the road and resurfacing it. It’s anticipated that the road will reopen to traffic shortly.
