Israeli Tourist Reportedly Abandoned and Robbed by Motorcycle Taxi Driver in Sattahip
In Sattahip, Chonburi, an 81-year-old Israeli tourist recounted a harrowing incident where he was left stranded and robbed of his phone by a motorcycle taxi driver on May 13th.
The unsettling event transpired around 6:00 PM, when Mr. Albert Mahlev, 81, found himself alone at a roadside store along Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip, after being deserted by his hired motorcycle taxi driver.
Reportedly, Mr. Albert embarked on a journey from Pattaya to Sattahip for sightseeing purposes. Engaging the services of a motorcycle taxi from Soi Buakhao in Pattaya, he anticipated a smooth ride to his destination. However, upon reaching an intersection on Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip, the driver abruptly abandoned Mr. Albert, making off with his mobile phone in the process.
Stranded and hindered by language barriers, Mr. Albert sought refuge at a nearby store, hoping for assistance. Concerned bystanders, noticing his distress, promptly contacted the Sattahip Police Station, leading to the swift arrival of Tourist Police officers from both Pattaya and Sattahip. Subsequently, Mr. Albert was escorted to the police station for further inquiry.
Pol. Lt. Abhisit Phuengyam, Deputy Inspector of the Sattahip Police Station, revealed that Mr. Albert faced challenges in conveying pertinent details initially, primarily due to language constraints. Efforts are underway to secure an interpreter to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of the incident.
