Residents in Pattaya Urge Law Enforcement to Address Middle Eastern Motorbike Racers Causing Public Disturbances
Residents Demand Action Against Middle Eastern Motorbike Racers in Pattaya
Residents in Pattaya call on law enforcement to urgently and decisively address the disturbances caused by a large group of motorbike racers from the Middle East, particularly in the Soi Yensabai area of South Pattaya.
The Pattaya News has received numerous complaints from locals, supported by a video clip showing approximately 50 teenagers aged 16 to 20 riding motorbikes with loud exhaust pipes during the night. The footage also captures some riders shouting, disrupting the sleep and peace of nearby residents.
Residents report that these foreign motorbike riders are blatantly disregarding Thai driving laws. Most must wear helmets, follow traffic regulations, or possess licenses, insurance, registration, and proper tax on their vehicles.
Recent incidents have escalated into fights among the riders. Attempts by some individuals to intervene have only worsened the situation.
Local Pattaya authorities are now under pressure to promptly address this issue and restore peace in the affected neighborhood. Witnesses say most racers are from Kuwait and on school holidays.
This problem is standard, as the city has faced similar issues every July since the end of COVID-19 restrictions.
There have been several deaths and significant media coverage related to this problem in prior years. Last year, the situation was so severe that the Kuwaiti Ambassador to Thailand met with Pattaya officials to discuss possible solutions.
The annual influx of Middle Eastern youth on school holidays has also led to conflicts with locals and street fights, similar to the incident last year.
