National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission Suspends 2.14 Million Unregistered Mobile Numbers

NBTC Commissioner Pol Gen Nathathorn Prousoontorn reported that individuals possessing between six and 100 unregistered SIM cards have suspended their call, SMS, and internet services. He emphasized that these numbers will be permanently revoked and redistributed if the SIM cards are not registered within the next 30 to 45 days.

In a related effort, the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) has directed the NBTC to review approximately 80 million mobile phone numbers linked to over 113 million mobile banking accounts to ensure SIM card ownership matches the account holders. This verification process is scheduled to be completed by the end of September.
Additionally, the NBTC has taken action to secure telecommunications operations in five border provinces by addressing 465 unauthorized cell signal boosters, of which 179 have already been destroyed.
