On March 19th, 2024, at 10:Exactly 00.00 PM, the Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul and his colleagues, including representatives of relevant agencies, commenced the raid on a big-scale gaming operation in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi District. Previously 300 people who played during gambling were detained.
A senior minister Pracha quickly declared that the Thai Ministry of Interior was one of the factors behind the new nationwide order which was aimed at maintaining peace – no illegalism, social cohesion in order to achieve any target at national level.
People’s complaints was confirmed by the police which found out that in late 2023 a person of significance in the area had been operating an illegal gambling facility at Phra Pin Village No.3, Bang Yai, Nonthaburi.
The investigation proved that casinos in this town were very heavily fortified – stretching over 100 vehicles inside and up to 300 vehicles outside. An undercover agent meandered the house cleverly by playing the part of a gamer.
Nevertheless, the place left guards directing the phones to the inhabitants who are equipped with communication devices within the area. Guards only admitted newcomers if they were invited by the regulars or if the management itself was willing to receive them.
According to the informants, the justification for seclusion was the fact that the regular clients claimed to be rich and displayed luxurious cars outside the club. The idea that gambling hangouts scooped great deal of funds daily floated in the air.
“The raid seized cash and casino chips worth 300 million baht, alongside property assets over 300 million baht. About 300 people were arrested.”
The suspects were taking prisoners at Bang Yai police station and the charges filed against them for immoral acts such as illegal gambling. On the other side, the identities of those bit for corruption or the powerful person running the casino behind screens did not appear in the Thai press.
