American Fugitive Arrested in Pattaya for Allegedly Running Illegal Property Business in Phuket and Surat Thani

On March 15th 2024, at 7 a.m. when a national 58 year old was caught in front of a Jomtien hospital in Pattaya, he was arrested for the accusation of using the illegal business of land for his personal benefits.
Offender named Mr. David has been arrested for infringement of the Foreign Business Act with him being a Chairman of the Executive Board of the company engaged into illegal land serving activities.

According to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), this Thai citizen and two foreign associates with the names of Mr. Marcus (British) and Mr. Paul (American), surnames withheld, had registered a law firm in Surat Thani and Phuket provinces respectively, and then the latter Thai citizen established more companies, thus appeared more trustworthy. Such firms were then used to attain stakes in a variety of firms located in both Surat Thani and Phuket, in consequence of which the companies could own some land areas in the two provinces, with the majority of ownership level reserved for a Thai individual
DSI said on to be the transfers in these companies’ shares to the buyer who is a foreign company holder and wanted land from the local people. With some of them being faced out; their market share was decreased as the foreign customers desired to take over fully.

The brothers have been accused in absentia by the Thai court, as they allegedly fled after the company was charged. Besides Mr. David who at this point is the only major suspect, no one has been arrested at all. At the moment, he is facing police custody and he will be given to the investigation unit which has been tasked to investigate this case. He started to avoid a statement to the accusation but not instantly rejected the claim.
